How to survive a hot summer fling and prevent a broken heart

SummerFling02

Romantic flings are one of the best parts of a summer holiday, except for one small detail... they come with an expiration date. For some, that is what makes it so enticing! A summer fling is a time for adventure with no ties attached.

To spare you the heartbreak this summer, we have collated a guide of dos and don’ts for a fun fling!

DO wear sexy lingerie

This is your time to be as wild as you want! Remember your fling doesn’t know the real you, so you can be whoever you want.

DON’T expect anything

A summer fling is just that ... a fling, something you can get rid of as soon as it gets boring. Keep it light and don’t expect anything emotionally from your fling.

DO rock your curves and embrace summer trends

Don’t be afraid to show some skin! Own your summer body on the beach or poolside in a bikini or sexy one piece. Just because this is not a guy you are getting serious with does not mean you can’t still dress to impress. The hottest fashion trend you have to wear this summer is the effortlessly cool slip dress. Pair your slip dress with stylish flats and oversized sunglasses for the day or dress it up with strappy heels and statement earrings for the evening.

Zimmermann, Ladder V Dress $350.00
Zimmermann, Empire Slip Dress $395.00

DON’T get attached

Whatever you do, DO NOT feel 'the feels’! No matter how cute he is, remind yourself that there is little chance of a future with your summer fling.

DO play with the bad boys

Experiment with your taste in men because hey, you won’t be dating him for long!

DON’T be afraid to call it quits

If your summer fling sizzles out, just call it quits.

DO get off social media

The ‘it didn’t really happen if it wasn’t on Instagram’ rule does not apply to a summer fling. Live in the moment and forget about your social media accounts. Plus, no social media evidence will make it so much easier to get over your fling post-summer.

And if that wasn't enough he also debuted his latest short film, Once and Forever, starring Kristen Stewart as Coco Chanel and Geraldine Chaplin.

All in all, it was a star-studded, cinematic set at the Chanel Métiers d'Art show.

Everything you need to know about Brisbane's Polo in the City

PoloLA01

When the polo comes to town, the town goes to the Polo! Not even the sweltering 36 degree heat could keep the who’s who of Brisbane from donning their heels and boat shoes and getting involved in the divot stomp. From fitness powerhouse couple Lorna Jane and Bill Clarkson, to Fashion blogger extraordinaire Kate Waterhouse, Brisbane turned it on for the Land Rover Polo in the City, and the fashion didn’t fail to impress. Travelling around the country side, the Polo is one of the highlights of the Brisbane summer event season, and finding myself in the Air New Zealand VIP tent gave me the very best platform to admire the day’s style.

White on white was a clear crowd favourite for the attendees, with white dresses, matching ensembles and lace in every direction the eye could wander. Whereas Camilla’s famous bohemian luxe style pieces were able to cut through the sea of neutral. In terms of comparing with Sydney’s and Melbourne’s events, the white and monochromatic fashion seemed to be a consistent theme. Elyse Knowles, Erin Holland, Rebecca Judd and Anna Heinrich all opted for head to toe white, with Sally Fitzgibbons keeping to her relaxed style in a printed monochrome jump suit. Neutral tones for summer are here to stay.

Monochromatic styles have become more and more popular as the search for minimalism is embraced with open arms. Broken up by textures and crisp lines, the all-white look was a clear crowd favourite for polo-ensembles, paired with oversized sunglasses, wedge heels, a pop of colour on the lips and floppy felt hats; the day was very Hampton’s pool party-esk.

Midi dresses in lace and floral varieties with bare shoulders were the epitome of the day’s glamour, and anything but a stiletto being the shoe of choice. There were only a few faux pars, with some missing the “absolutely no fascinators” style code, but overall, the calibre of ladies wear at the event was very high. The complimentary makeup and hair touch ups thanks to Hit 105 kept the women looking glamourous and garden-crisp.

The coveted ‘Fashions on the Field’ was taken out by racing fashion blogger Lindsay Ridings, in a two piece Capri pant ensemble, completed with rockabilly head band and nude block heels.

The men were dapper as ever with collared checked shirts, loafers and chinos, putting the stallions on the field to shame. Ralph Lauren would have been in his element on the day, and it was clear many men took their styling advice straight from his ‘sports-chic’ manual. A little ankle, a little 5 o’clock shadow, and a whole lot of class had the men of Brisbane looking fresh. Again, there were the odd plain t-shirt and denim shorts, but to say that the men didn’t meet the mark would be rude.

With the champagne popping, brie canapés floating past and Weis Sorbet samples keeping us cool, the heat didn’t stop the day from being a glamourous success for Polo Enterprises Brand Manager, Natalie Decorte. I don’t know that the game itself was of much focus, but at the end of the day, we all care about the fashion a lot more anyway.

Kylie Jenner channels Kim K in exposed derrière photoshoot

kylie03

Happy hump day indeed! The world awoke this morning to another member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan’s exposed derrière.

In a very risqué photoshoot for Interview magazine, Kylie Jenner poses in plastic doll-like positions while dressed in ass-less latex and golden body armour... yes you read that right.

@interviewmag @stevenkleinstudio @garrennewyork @markcarrasquillo #karltempler

A photo posted by King Kylie (@kyliejenner) on

The spread, photographed by Steven Klein, features 12 images of Kylie in various latex body suits and detailed gold body casts. The looks are very reminiscent of Kim Kardashians notorious Paper magazine spread that was released earlier this year.

kylie02

Through Kylie's fashion and lifestyle choices it is clear that Kim is a big influence on her little sister’s life choices, but being pressured to expose yourself in this way at the young age of 18 does not seem right.

While the photoshoot is definitely the attention grabber here, Kylie's interview is totally controversial. Kylie tells Interview magazine that the image she shows the world is more fiction than reality.

"There is absolutely a side of me that people don't know ... People want to see my cars and my purses. People love fashion. But that's so not me."

Kylie goes on to tell Interview that ‘the real Kylie’ would never dress up or wear makeup because lately she hates wearing makeup. We’re slightly confused about why Jenner went and did this OTT photoshoot if this is how she really feels. Someone needs to give her permission to take a break and be a kid!
