An organised wardrobe equals a happy life

Guide to organising your wardrobe

Image: source

Is your wardrobe essentially a fashion crime scene due to the unorganised mess in your closet? Well fear not, this simple guide will help you create an organised and fresh wardrobe in no time.

1. “Have I worn this in the past year?”

This is perhaps the most important question to ask yourself while decluttering your wardrobe. You’d be surprised at the amount of forgotten clothes you actually have once you clean out your closet. (And how often do you say you have nothing to wear?). Sort your clothing into items your wear frequently and then items you hardly wear, and start from there.

2. Part ways with the sentimental pieces.

Are you hanging onto that old blouse because it reminds you of your holiday from 5 years ago? Get rid of it! Unless it’s your wedding dress, remember your precious memories from your photographs, not from your clothes!

3. Develop a hanger system.

When hanging your clothes, ensure you turn all of the hangers around so the hooks are facing away from the wardrobe wall (the wrong way around). Whenever you wear something hang it back in your closet with the hanging facing the “normal way”. After 6 months anything that is still hanging the wrong way around is ready for donation.

Guide to an organised wardrobe

4. Get rid of everything that doesn’t fit

We all have a pair of skinny jeans that we use for fitness inspiration. However, more often than not they sit in our wardrobes collecting dust, or worse, taking up crucial space for jeans that actually fit us! Stop beating yourself up and get rid of anything that doesn’t make you feel gorgeous in your own skin. We can guarantee there are plenty of flattering pieces that fit your every curve beautifully.

5. Don’t be a shoe hoarder.

A lot of us strive to have a shoe collection like Carrie Bradshaw’s (the dream), however there’s a big difference between shoe collecting and shoe hoarding. Give your toes a rest and get rid of any uncomfortable or outdated shoes, especially those flats that still give you blisters after the 10th wear.

6. Ask yourself the serious questions.

“Would I buy this dress if I saw it in a boutique today?”, “Do I like it?”, “If I saw someone on the street wearing this would I want to steal their style?”
Basic questions like these really help you when you reach Wardrobe Organising Stress Stage (WOSS) and you find yourself wanting to keep everything just in case.

7. Build a “Category Wardrobe”

Whilst it does sound borderline OCD, through creating sections within your wardrobe for specific items, i.e a section for your dresses, skirts and blouses, your wardrobe will continue to stay neat and organised. You will know exactly where to find your favourite LBD on a spontaneous night out, without holding up your girlfriends.

North West shuts down photographers with serious sass

North West has been trained by the best (A.K.A. Kimye) on how to handle the chaos which comes with being born into an oh-so-famous family. Her life since birth has involved being swarmed by the paparazzi and regardless of the perks she is just a child and she needs her space!

That is why on her way to a ballet class, the two-year-old wasn't going to put up with the hoards of flashing cameras and out of frustration voiced her opinion for privacy.

"I said no pictures," stated the strong, sassy, little diva.

Mixed reactions to the video have left fans turning to Twitter to discuss how 'heartbreaking' it is to see a child shutting down adults.

Do you think it's unfair that the Paparazzi wouldn't leave North West alone? {jcomments on}

Renowned makeup artist Carol Mackie talks top beauty trends

Carolmac01

Fashion Weekly caught up with makeup genius Carol Mackie right as she returned from Paris Fashion Week. Mackie is a renowned makeup artist with over seventeen years' experience in the industry and has worked at International Fashion Week's accross the globe. The MAC Cosmetics Senior Makeup Artist visited Brisbane to host a masterclass in collaboration with RESORT on James Street. Read on to find out what the biggest beauty trends of the season are and how you can get the look!

You’ve just returned from Paris Fashion Week! What are the top three beauty trends that were evident and how can our readers adapt these trends?

CM:

  1. This season it is less about the wet-skin look with more focus on a satin finish. You know that the product is there but you can’t really see it because it is blended very well, creating a soft focus on the face.
  2. A big trend that I noticed at shows is that makeup was being switched up. Where one model might have a bold lip, the other will have [dramatic] eyes. It is all about individual style, personality and working with [different] face shapes.
  3. There is a lot of colour coming through this season with nods to brights and glitter. Carrying on from last season we saw worn-in eyeliner. This modern grunge look involves putting makeup on and blending it out with a cotton bud to look like the makeup has been slept in.

Strobing is talked about a lot at the moment! What exactly is this and how can we achieve it?

CM: We have been strobing forever and suddenly it has become a trend! Strobing is highlighting on the highpoints of your face; down the nose, the cupid's-bow, just below the eye and a little bit on the chin. The MAC Strobe Cream is what we call the Barocca for the skin because you put it on and your skin looks ten times better! It has a pigment in it which creates a beautiful luminosity.

Why do you think events like RESORT is important for Brisbane and what does it mean for our fashion scene?

CM: I think it is important because it is merging fashion and beauty... it is important to bring people who have the same aesthetic together in order to collaborate.

Can you run us through some of the stand-out products included in the RESORT collection, and how they are used?

CM: The collection has a very summery feel to it. The Eye Shadow X9 palette can be used in so many ways and there is a variety of lipstick shades in the collection as well as the Mineralised Skin Finish. With a collection like this it can be overwhelming to know how to use each product so I recommend booking in for a makeup lesson at the MAC store which can then be redeemed on products.

What is your ultimate beauty secret that you can share with our readers?

CM: A product that has always been a favourite of mine is the MAC Cream Colour Base. It comes in a variety of shades. I think cream products are great because they are less ageing than powders and I always get asked how people can look younger.

What is next for you?

CM: I am going to Melbourne to host student night events in our MAC Pro Stores and then I am travelling to Western Australia for a bridal masterclass.

What advice would you give aspiring makeup artists?

CM: When you are working as a makeup artist it is all about condensing your products and being smart with what you use and how you use it. That is the same for the everyday women; they want things that easy to apply in different ways. I often apply lipstick then pop a brush in my lipstick and apply it on my cheeks. Also invest in great brushes. If you look after them and wash them they will last for a long time.

CM: Yes definitely with the skin trend. There is so much prepping without being too time consuming. I’ll be showing which products to use to get your skin looking exactly as you want it, quickly. I’ll also be talking a lot about contouring, highlighting and strobing.

Fake tan can be beautiful but also at times disastrous! Never fear, Owner and Co-Founder of Bondi Sands, Blair James, shares his tips on you can how prevent looking like you rolled in dirt.

‘Les Petit Fours,’ Exhibition Opening

LesPetitFours01

The Friends of Leon Gallery has combined forces with beautiful.bizzare to present the ‘Les Petit Fours,’ exhibition. The exhibition draws together artists from around the world, with some showing for the first time in the city of Sydney. Each artist presents a square (53cmx53cm) portrait that explores the decadence of a Parisian bakery using their own unique artistic style.

Fashion Weekly was fortunate enough to attend the opening of the collection in Surry Hills and enjoy a night of stunning portraiture and indulgent cocktails. Perhaps the most intriguing part of the evening was observing the broad diversity between the artworks. From vibrant oils on canvas, to classic mechanical pencil on paper, there was a piece for everyones aesthetic in the exhibition. The artworks which one gravitated toward included Radiant Lights, (2015) by Young Chun which had an incredible vibrancy of colour and Daydream, (2015) by Kazuki Takamatsu, as its particular method of layering mediums made it appear enchantingly luminous.

If you missed the opening reception of this international group exhibition, it is well worth visiting the Friends of Leon Gallery and looking through the beautifully curated assortment of portraits.

Megan Hess talks new book, Coco Chanel and her iconic moments

CocoMegan02

World renowned illustrator, Megan Hess, has channelled her creative juices to create one of the most inspiring fashion-illustrated books of the year. The novel, titled Coco Chanel- the Illustrated World of a Fashion Icon, beautifully documents the life of the great Coco Chanel. We caught up with Megan to find out what inspired her to create the book, why she believes Coco Chanel is so inspiring, and what’s next for the talented illustrator.

Coco Chanel built a long lasting empire which has had a huge influence on the ever changing world of fashion. What inspired you to put together a compilation of illustrations featuring this iconic designer?

MH: I’ve always been really inspired by Coco Chanel. I think she’s one of the most iconic, or the iconic fashion designers of our time. And even now that she’s passed away the legacy that she left is still the biggest fashion brand in the world. What I found really inspiring about her as a person was her life and the fact that as a little girl her mother died when she was very young and her father essentially dropped her off at an orphanage and left her there. And so her beginnings were humble to say the least. I just think her story is extremely inspiring, the way that she went from those very early humble days to forge ahead, and despite the obstacles create her own millinery boutique and then step-by-step become the fashion designer and the fashion icon that she became. So the reason why I wanted to create the book was really just to create an illustrated story of her life, and even if you’re not really into fashion I hope that people will really enjoy the book because they find her story inspiring.

CocoMegan04

Your new book, Coco Chanel- the Illustrated World of a Fashion Icon illustrates and quotes the quintessential moments in Coco Chanel’s life. How much research was involved in documenting her career and choosing which moments to illustrate?

MH: This was difficult because there were so many great moments in Coco Chanel’s career, and it was really difficult to choose which ones to include. So in terms of the ones that did make it in, as it is an illustrated book I really wanted to pick the moments that were amazing to illustrate. And also the moments that defined her as a woman, in my opinion. So they were the moments that we picked and we really tried to be as detailed as we possibly could to show her life, as a little girl right through to when she passed away and also the legacy that she had left. In terms of research it was quite epic (laughs), I think anyone who has looked into researching Coco Chanel finds that there’s so many conflicting documents of her life, so getting them in order and getting to the bottom of which ones she did clarify or speak about when she was alive was the way that we focussed our research.

Why do you think Mademoiselle Chanel has been able to transform women’s wardrobes forever?

MH: I think she’s been able to transform wardrobes forever because she was the first woman, a female fashion designer, to liberate women because she abolished the corsets and she turned wearing black from something you would only wear to a funeral into the chic little black dress. So many of the designs that she created were a way to make women more comfortable, physically comfortable ... essentially in making things simpler she miraculously made simple chic. So I think that’s the key thing she changed for women, she used minimalism and comfort as a stylish option.

CocoMegan03

How has Coco Chanel inspired you?

MH: As I said earlier, I think her story as a woman and the way in which she started from humble beginnings to achieve what she did in her life has always been very inspiring to me. I remember reading about her as a teenager and I read that she worked in her Rue Cambon boutique in Paris, and that she had an apartment upstairs but that she lived in the Ritz down the street. I just remember thinking ‘wow what a woman’. I think that she always did things her way, and not in a push anyone out of the way style, but I think she had a really clear vision of what she wanted to do and how she wanted to achieve it. She was really steadfast in keeping to that, and that is what’s most inspiring to me.

What do you hope readers will experience as they flick through the pages of your new book?

MH: I hope people are inspired by my book, and I hope they are inspired by just the story of her life. I think, as I said before, even if you’re not so much into fashion, I think that you can still enjoy reading about her story just purely as a woman and what she achieved. Also, I think that it’s a new take on an old biography of her life because it’s illustrated. So I hope that’s what people enjoy.

CocoMegan05

Out of all the amazing work you’ve created, do you have a favourite Megan Hess piece that you have illustrated?

MH: I have lots of pieces that are special to me for different reasons, whether they were early in my career and pieces that kind of surged things ahead or helped me work on other great pieces. One that’s close to my heart was one for Tiffany and Co. early on. It was just after I did the covers for Sex and the City, which was my big break. Getting a call from Tiffany and Co. to illustrate all of their windows in New York was one of those moments where I could barely speak on the phone (laughs). When they rang me I was so excited and I remember staying very calm during the call but when I got off the phone I just did a victory lap around the lounge room because I was just so excited. And then actually working on that project was just really exciting.

What’s next for you?

MH: Gosh, well right now as I record this I’m sitting in a hotel room in Paris. I’m on the book tour for Coco Chanel, which is very exciting because after a year of work it’s all finished and wrapped up neatly with its little foiled edges. It’s very exciting to go around the world and see it get released and meet women from Dubai to London, now in Paris, and next it will be New York and then LA. So right now I’m in the midst of that and I’m very excited to see it get released. I think what’s next is once I’ve finished touring for this book it will be straight back to the studio and I’ll be working on new projects with some of the clients I already have, and some other projects with new clients that I have never worked with before which I’m very excited about. For Christmas I have lots of my own special projects that I’ll be bringing out and releasing as Christmas items, including scarves and homeware items, so it’s going to be a busy end of year, but [there are] lots of things that I’m very excited about.

Coco Chanel- the Illustrated World of a Fashion Icon is a definite addition to any fashionista’s bookshelf. To keep up with everything Megan Hess, be sure to follow her Instagram.

Delfina's new spring menu flaunts delectable dishes

DelfinaSpringMenu01

Delfina's Bistro has been tantalising Brisbane taste buds over the last few months with their scrumptious menu inspired by great food, great wine and a family friendly atmosphere.

Named after co-owner Kellie-Ann Ashton's grandmother, the restaurant is situated at the heart of the stylish Emporium precinct in Fortitude Valley.

So in celebration of their delicious plates, Delfina's Bistro hosted an exclusive supper for media guests and bloggers who would indulge and honestly review the menu.

Upon arrival we were seated and welcomed with a glass of red or white wine. Not long after, a plate of warm bread arrived at our table and that was my instant weakness.

DelfinaSpringMenu05

Then we were brought two small plates, each boasting as appetizers. The first being the Braised Goat Mille-Feuille with onion puree, antichokes and potato foam, which was absolutely divine. It was tender and full of flavour, however it did taste more as a winter dish.

The second was the Cold Smoked Salmon with beetroot, pistachio, wasabi and vanilla which embodied all things spring and summer from the cool refreshing taste, to the visual appearance of colour and texture.

DelfinaSpringMenu03

The Confit Pork Leg was an unexpected surprise when it arrived at our table. Amongst the porky plate, we encountered a rather complimenting detail of sauteed mushrooms.

The Whole Fried Fish with charred greens resulted in a delicate crunch anointed with a soy and citrus dressing. While the Slow Cooked Lamb Shoulder with mustard jus was masterfully subtle.

DelfinaSpringMenu04

The sides were simplistic and easily won us over. The well-seasoned Potato, chorizo and thyme created a sizzling pop of flavour while the Roasted pumpkin, feta, pine nuts and coriander did leave us a little addicted.

It was a fabulous dining affair and the hint of a welcoming, homely-setting left us so comfortable that we were the last to leave.

Outrageous and shocking race day confessions

RaceDayConfessions

Image: Source

We all know how fun the spring races are, it’s always fun to let your hair down and celebrate with friends. However, sometimes the day doesn’t go completely to plan. We asked our readers to send in their most cringe-worthy, hilarious and scandalous race day confessions. Here are their juicy responses.

I went to the spring races and didn't plan for the warm weather. Before I left home, my outfit was flawless. I sported a pastel pink pencil skirt with polyester lining and a buttoned, lace-white shirt. Not long after I had a champagne in hand, we headed trackside and I started melting from the heat. We took a quick break and sat under an umbrella, but when I stood up, my skirt had stuck to my butt and thighs and I had the most embarrassing sweat patches! I honestly wanted to the ground to swallow me up. – Felicity, 24, QLD

Being a beauty lover, a day at the races called for a new foundation. This year was particularly hot and I was wearing a fascinator with a veil detail. As the weather started heating up my face became clammy and my full coverage foundation started melting off my face. This made the veil of my fascinator stick to my skin. When I finally decided to remove my fascinator I had little square imprints on my skin. It was not a great look and I definitely learnt to wear dewy and light makeup to the races. – Fiona, 24, QLD.

It was my first time attending the races as you can imagine I put a lot of thought into making sure everything was perfect. Finally the big day arrived and I felt completely gorgeous. However, the excitement got to me and I over indulged in the champagne. To be honest the whole day is a bit of a blur, but I did make a cameo appearance on the 6pm news. As you can imagine it wasn’t pretty, and my friends still haven’t let me live it down. – Lauren, 22, QLD.

Last year was the first time I went to the races and I wore a white dress. Being as pale as I am it was a necessity to fake tan. One fresh fake tan + one fab white dress = one big disaster! Not only that but the weather was really dry and there were dust storms next to the race course so in addition to tan stains, my dress went a completely different colour from the dirt. Luckily most people had too many drinks to notice that I looked like I had rolled in dirt and thank goodness for Napisan that saved my dress! – Emily, 21, QLD.

It was my first time at the races and I had organised a group of my friends to meet me there. I was standing on the grass in my fancy heels and floral dress when I spotted a girlfriend I hadn't seen in years. I was so excited to see her that I decided to 'gallop' and I fell flat on my face. The worst thing was, it had been raining the day before, so the grass was still a little damp. I had mud marks on the front of my dress and I totally ruined my shoes! – Carrie, 27, QLD

I have a friend that likes to flirt, despite being in a happy relationship with her partner for 5 plus years. I was at the races with a big group of friends; however a few hours in I noticed that my friend-the-flirt had gone AWOL. To make a long story short, I went to investigate and I found her behind the toilet blocks completely making out with some random guy! Thankfully the floral dress she was wearing was quite common that day, but I couldn’t believe it! To this day I have never said a word, and she doesn’t know I saw her that day. – Sarah, 29, NSW.

Why TINDER is tainting traditional dating

Feel free to argue with me all you like but I can't believe how disturbingly difficult it is to date online.

I communicate with people daily and when I get home the last thing I want to do is 'get to know' somebody online. But I have to say, my curiosity did get the better of me. All of this hype around Tinder did prove to be thought provoking.

A few months ago, I ran into an old friend and he introduced me to his girlfriend. We had a few drinks and I asked them about how they met. They both replied, "Tinder." I was gobsmacked. All I could say in reply was, "Oh my god, I've met my first real Tinder love story."

But the good news doesn't end there, my best friend told me about one of her girlfriends who locks in three to four dates a week just by using the app. And my beauty therapist told me about her client who is packing up her whole life and moving to another state because she has found the man of her dreams.

So I had been fed these positive stories and I thought maybe I had been missing out on something fun and special. Who knows where it could go?

I decided to take a step of courage and I downloaded the app and set up my profile. I had a quick look at what other people do and I customised my own.

Now truthfully, my Facebook profile is quite professional which means I don't have a lot of 'fun' photos on there. They're usually of me in my working element at social events. Though my pics are nice (that's what I think anyway) they are quite 'serious'.

But I thought, I have to work with what I have and I'm not changing to impress anyone. This is me and surely they will accept the woman that I am. So I put three photos up of the 'serious' me and my profile description said something like: 'Food. Family. Fashion.'

Then the fun began ... swiping. After an hour of going through the distressful talent in a 25km radius I swiped right for 5 guys.

And then I waited. And waited. And, I was still waiting.

Three days later after repeating the above I still had nothing. No one matched with me.

I thought to myself, "This can't be the case? What's wrong with me?"

I had to ring the girls and ask them if I had done something wrong.

They all agreed that my photos were 'intimidating.' That they represented 'the working woman, the fashion obsessed" and that I came off 'high maintenance'.

I disagreed with them but I also acknowledged that this was a social experiment and it would be fascinating to see how things could be different if I changed up my 'look.'

That weekend I went out and took selfies. Yup, I tried the fish gape, played with the lighting and different filters and finally came up with more approachable and fun photos.

It was really hard work! I wasn't ready for the effort that came with presenting myself to the world the way they wanted to see me.

Anyway, I ended up uploading these new pics and I wrote my profile description as, "I love red wine, real talks and random moments. I dislike pick up lines, ping pong and patrone."

Within one hour, I had 25 matches and 15 conversations on the go.

But most of the conversations started with hideous pick up lines, including this shocker, "You look like you would go off like a frog in a sock." Or "I want to bang you like I just banged my big toe."

The other conversations quickly dwindled as they lacked any form of depth.

I sat their and I asked myself is this exactly what the dating world has come to? Quick fixes, superficial swipes, short attention spans and the vanity of looks rather than getting to know someone for who they really are?

As I was deep in thought, this guy decided to ask me out on a date. I replied with, "Wow, I've never gotten this far. I'm not sure. I don't really know you yet."

His reply was, "Are you a robot?"

I think this pretty much sums up why Tinder has ruined my perspective on online dating.

For now, I'm going to stick to my serious photos, busy social calendar and meeting men in real time in the real world.

If you've had a shocking Tinder story, I would love to hear about it. Comment below or email me at stacey@fashionweekly.com.au.

Stay tuned for our next story on Tinder Confessions. {jcomments on}

The Dressmaker Film Review

Dressmaker01

The Dressmaker will leave the vintage fashion-obsessed weak at the knees. The couture frocks are set against a true Australian backdrop which, although at times ridiculous, provokes a humourous take on how fashion can transform.

Based on the best-selling novel by Rosalie Ham, the opening scene features a fierce Tilly Dunnage (Kate Winslet) stepping out of a blue bus with her Singer sewing machine.

Her character is a misfit, clearly well travelled, educated and sure of herself. Well, that's what it seems until it's obvious that she is on a quest to solve her own mystery. The curse of which is the painful and forgotten memories of possibly killing someone in her childhood.

Though the town despises her for a tragedy in which they believe Tilly caused as a youngster, they can't go past her amazing creations and talent. As she mends the towns unfashionable appearance the colourful folk become her ridiculously glamorous, walking mannequins. Think frocks, frocks and lots of frocks. A daily runway show in the dirty, dusty town of Dungatar.

As the plot unravels, Tilly is on the desperate hunt to find the truth behind the murder and along the way she falls in love with Teddy McSwiney (Liam Hemsworth).

Dressmaker03

In a particular scene, the local football hero shows off his killer abs as Tilly measures and fits him for a custom suit. His tanned, chiseled body and deep blue eyes added to the breathtaking moment where he whispers sweet nothings in her ear.

There is however an obvious flaw in the cast as the 11 year real-life age gap is too apparent considering Hemsworths and Winslets characters grew up together.

Judy Davis plays Molly, the crazy mother who injects her fun, hilarious, moody and surprising wit to the story. Her impressive performance helps to link the madness while preventing any form of boredom.

Dressmaker04

The film is exactly what it seems to be, Tilly turns a boring town into a stylish spectacle which is left to burn. Her curvaceous figure, bold red lips and cigarette in hand adds to her mysterious character.

The Dressmaker's tone is all over the place. The frocks are gorgeous but the dramatic elements of the film don't flow naturally. It's a jaggard story structure and just like a true bias cut it will look flawless to begin with but as it drops you will be shocked with the unexpected length of the fabric.

White Label Noba presents An Old-Fashioned Morning Tea

On the morning of Friday October 30, Brisbane’s historic Hanworth House will be transformed by delicate ribbon sandwiches, cream filled cupcakes and scones, paired with fine teas and bubbles. Guests of the Old-Fashioned Morning Tea will enjoy these treats while the stunning Season 2015 range from Brisbane-born fashion label, White Label Noba, is paraded by women who look like women.

The third annual An Old Fashioned Morning Tea, organised by Tracey Watkins, will raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s Australia. The morning will be hosted by Melissa Downes, from Channel Nine News, with the fashion parade by White Label Noba. The event will host an auction as well as amazing raffle prices and giveaways.

Tracey Watkins, founder and designer at White Label Noba, says her mother is the inspiration for hosting the event - a creative and stylish woman who suffered, like many, from Alzheimer’s Disease.

“Having absolutely no say over which memories we forget and which are kept; which people will fade from our recognition; the places we know and go everyday that will suddenly become strange – that is terrifying; and it’s happening to hundreds of thousands of people across the country. So, I invite people from all over Brisbane to take some time out, to come to An Old Fashioned Morning Tea and to celebrate the time we have, with people we care about, in one of the city’s most beautiful locations – because life is just too short to forget what’s great,” she said.

The Old-Fashioned Morning Tea will be hosted in Hanworth House, one of the oldest and most iconic properties in inner Brisbane. Tickets are selling at $65.00 per person from www.stickytickets.com.au.

Why the French should be your beauty muse

frenchbeauty03Image source

There is something about French women. They are so effortlessly chic, their je ne sais quoi as some would say. But it’s not only their fashion choices you should draw inspiration from. Here’s why you should adapt the French women’s approach to beauty.

Don’t rinse: Many French women don’t wash their faces with tap water as it is known to dry out your skin. Instead remove your makeup with Bioderma Micellar Solution followed by a spritz of thermal water and pat dry with a tissue.

Massage is a routine not indulgence: French women take time to apply their facial creams and serums in a massaging motion, moving slowly and work upwards from your chin to temples. Continue this technique onto the body to increase blood circulation, which will leave your skin smooth. Apply the Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil in circular motions all over your body for a radiant glow.

Leave it as is: French women are known for their effortless looks, you won’t easily spot a French beauty with a glamorous blow-dry. Letting your hair air dry with a texturizing product will achieve this undone look.

Less is more: When it comes to makeup, French women often have a ‘done-but-not-done-up’ look. The emphasis here is on enhancing natural beauty rather than covering up imperfections. Use the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm as a base for your makeup to achieve a radiant glow, smudge a L’Oréal Paris Superliner onto your eyes and swipe on a red lip for an easy French beauty look.

Everything in moderation: We have all heard that ‘beauty comes from within’. The French hardly overindulge in their food and instead eat a balanced diet, which results in glowing, clear skin.

A wine a day (may) keep the wrinkles at bay: French women enjoy a glass of red wine on the daily – it is part of their culture. Red wine is filled with antioxidants and contains anti-inflammatory properties, great for clear skin and a glowing complexion (user discretion is advised)!
