With the likes of Zara, H&M and UNIQLO producing on-trend, disposable fashion at ridiculous prices, it's almost hard to control ourselves not buy the one-wash-only, t-shirt. Though the facts are, invest in one quality t-shirt and you'll have it for a lifetime.

We all know the saying that one woman's trash is another woman's treasure. Well, you know that designer dress that you've never worn that is one size too small? Why not sell it on Ebay or Gumtree and make a little coin so you can buy that investment bag you've been dreaming about.
Shop when you are emotionally stable
Shop only when you are in a good headspace. Don't shop when you are tired, hungry lonely, bored or upset - all of these unstable emotions will lead you to purchasing things unconsciously and you'll select items based on your feelings which means they won't be smart buys.
Don't be easily influenced by the sales assistant
Let's be honest, sales assistants just want a sale. Gone are the days where you could walk into a boutique and trust them for their honest feedback. Nowadays everything looks 'great', even when the customer is clearly trying on something 2 sizes too small. Go with your gut instinct and if you love it then don't question it. If you're really stuck and need some advice, why not ask one of the other customers, or walk away and come back another time with a trusted source who will tell you what you need to know, not what you want to hear.
Don't be deceived by the sale tag
Just because it's on sale doesn't mean that it is acceptable to impulse buy. If you don't love it, it doesn't fit or it's slightly faulty then it is not a bargain! It's only worth it if it represents you and compliments your existing wardrobe. Be strong and make sure it's a purchase you won't regret.
