Will Jean Paul Gaultier's Target collection be a success?

Gaultier01

It was a star-studded event at Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF), for the launch of renowned Parisian designer, Jean Paul Gaultier’s exclusive collection for Target Australia.

The anticipated show opened with international supermodel, Nicole Trunfio, taking to the runway in a risqué bra, leather jacket and 00’s-esque denim and tulle bubble skirt; a look that is a far cry from Target’s usual professional demure.

However, the man of the hour was missing in action due to illness, which also prevented him from officially launching the collection at Melbourne’s Bourke St store the next day.

While Gaultier’s nautical and grungy inspiration for the collection is prominent throughout the collection, we can’t help but think the execution is lacking. Featuring over 100 pieces ranging in price from $10 to $300, we’re not too sure if consumers will justify a spend of $299 on a leather jacket from the commercial department store.

Will the range be a hit or miss for Australian fashion lovers? Or are we the only one’s who believe the 00’s-esque bubble skirt will never be back in style? Share your thoughts! {jcomments on}

Giorgio Armani gives a voice to today's women

Si01

Women are fierce and fabulous creatures. We were born for greatness but sometimes our voices aren't heard.

Though many women have had the courage and audacity to embark on a new path, to choose the road less traveled and to blaze a new trail - many others have struggled to take a small step in a new direction.

But if we were to embrace a new mindset, ultimately we could alter our entire destination.

Thanks to Giorgio Armani, women around the world are being given a voice to say Sì.

Celebrated Australian actress Cate Blanchett, ambassadress for Giorgio Armani's fragrance Sì has started the conversation by saying Sì - which becomes a strategic moment when everything changes.

Discover the first 2 portraits of the Sì Women’s Circle below.

Helena Rizzo: Helena, a Brazilian woman living in Sao Paulo, was destined to work in architecture. However, she followed her passion into the culinary arts and now has her own restaurant. Voted Best Chef in 2014, she is delighted to have made the choice to listen to her heart.

Kee-Yoon Kim: Born in Berlin to Korean parents and living as an accomplished lawyer in Paris, one day Kee-Yoon decided to make her dream come true: to be a comedian, write a show, and go on stage.

For the Sì Women's Circle's first edition, 5 women from around the world, all of whom said "Sì", tell their life stories in 5 fascinating videos, to be found on the brand website, Youtube and social networks.

Atelier Hutch talks coveted iPhone case worth $8,888

AtelierHutch01

If you agree that diamonds are a girl's bestfriend, than you'll be thrilled to know we've discovered a lust worthy keeper! If you're anything like us, your phone is your life which means that it's basically an accessory in itself. Thanks to ATELIER HUTCH's founders, Sarah Gladstone, Sarah Husbands and Carene Carroll, these three Brisbane women have created a mobile phone case that is everything!

Made of real Ostrich leather and decorated with 2.5 carat diamonds this is basically the most coveted accessory of the season. Yes, it comes with a hefty price tag of $8,888 but it's seriously worth every bit.

If you're still in shock, and need a little convincing, we've sat down with the Atelier Hutch ladies to discuss if we should justify this iPhone-case splurge over a Chanel handbag.

Where and how did your fashion journey begin as a team?

AH: We’ve been friends for over 25 years and have always shared a love of beautifully designed pieces and quality fabrics. We were coincidently on a plane back from Sydney on business together and talking about how limited the options were for technology accessories as we looked down shamefully at our phone covers. From there on, we set out to create something that would fit in with the stylish, contemporary women of today.

Describe the style of your brand in 3 words?

AH: Strong, luxurious and unique.

Why the phone case industry? Why not jewellery or shoes?

AH: Technology is such a core part of our everyday lives, and there was a huge opportunity to bring something to the table that was high-end and worthy of the successful, fashionably-fierce women of today.

ATELIER HUTCH brings luxury handcrafted fashion pieces to a market that has previously been driven by mass production and poor quality. Our pieces are an opportunity for women to have their phone as a true fashion accessory and show it off just like a new pair of earrings or shoes!

What was the inspiration behind the ostrich leather and diamond phone case?

AH: We wanted to create a limited edition, pinnacle piece that gave our customers the opportunity to own something truly special and unique. The response has been overwhelming to the point of having to create a waitlist. This diamond and ostrich leather case will however be a limited edition version to ensure we keep it ‘exclusive’ for our existing customers.

AtelierHutch03

Is this the 'it' accessory of the season?

AH: The last couple of seasons have seen an influx of marble and monograms, so we’re excited to see a strong interest in ATELIER HUTCH from the leading fashionistas. The beauty with the collection is it’s not about one specific piece but a collection that allows you to accessorise to suit the occasion - from business meetings to Saturday night cocktails.

Do you think it is an investment piece?

AH: We see ATELIER HUTCH pieces as not only fashion investments but collectable items. Why restrict ourselves to one generic cover? We have dresses, jackets, handbags and jewellery for different occasions, so why not [have options] of our most used item – our phone?

How can our readers justify this splurge over a Chanel Bag?

AH: Now that is a very challenging question! Can we not have both?

How and what inspired the coveted packaging?

AH: We wanted to create packaging that was in line with the overall product quality and style, and added to the overall brand experience. The packaging is a keepsake and was created to sit alongside those beautiful Chanel, Hermes, and Louis Vuitton boxes in our closest.

Bloggers seem to be raving about the cases, what does this positive response mean for you?

AH: It definitely gives us confidence that we were not alone in our search for a high quality, fashion-led iPhone covers. For bloggers, your phone is always on display, whether it be in the latest holiday snap or at the latest fashion event. But let’s be honest, isn’t that the same for all of us?

From ostrich leather and diamonds, what could possibly be next for your brand?

AH: We’ll continue to push the boundaries of luxuriousness and craftsmanship in technology accessories but we’re also looking forward to connecting the ATELIER HUTCH brand further into the lives of the stylish and confident women of today.

Is your fear of being alone sabotaging potential love?

FearOfLonely02

Do you fear not finding your ideal partner in life? Are you worrying or stressing about being on your own? Is loneliness affecting your relationship with yourself?

Conquering loneliness

Feelings of loneliness and a fear of being alone are very common saboteurs to relationship happiness. Even Jennifer Lawrence recently admitted to being lonely. A fear of being alone can lead us to adjust our behaviour subconsciously to avoid being alone.

The first step to conquering this fear is to identify if it is affecting your behaviour.

Which of these apply to you?

  • You get into any relationship to avoid being alone

  • The irrational fear of being alone has you push your current partner away and so you end up being alone – the fear becomes self-fulfilling

  • You adjust your behaviour in your current relationship to be accepted by your partner so you don’t lose them

  • You compromise what is right for you to stay in a relationship

  • You hold back from speaking your mind in case it upsets your partner and they leave

  • You stay in an unfulfilling relationship and justify staying (e.g. it is better than no relationship) to avoid being alone

  • You settle for less than you desire just to have a relationship with someone

  • You find yourself overreacting with emotion (e.g. go into a panic, feel overly emotional) when your partner requests space or to slow things down

  • You feel alone even though you are in a relationship

It’s irrational

The fear of being alone is an irrational fear. Consider this – how could you possibly be alone when there are billions of people in this world, millions in most capital cities and thousands in most towns. Think about how many people you see, how many queues you manoeuvre and how often you compete for car parking spaces when you go shopping or to the movies.

FearOfLonely03

All irrational fears reside in our subconscious mind and are based on our past experiences and past conditioning. Often events that have happened early on in our upbringing can stay with us as irrational fears later in life. This is because we can interpret those events in negative ways and often, we can “make a mountain out of a molehill” and exaggerate these in our mind. These fears remain with us until we address them fully. Once you address them, then it is important to refocus on what you really want.

Give yourself permission to be happy

Take some time out and be really honest with yourself about your current or desired relationship.

Ask yourself:

  • What type of relationship do I really want?

  • What type of partner would fulfil my needs best in a relationship?

  • What type of partner am I deserving and worthy of?

Once you are aware of exactly what you want in a relationship, you need to give yourself permission and start taking action towards having what you really want.

Avoid settling for second best or compromising yourself. If you want a relationship that satisfies all of your eight needs, avoid settling for one that only meets two of your needs, and telling yourself that it is better than no relationship. Never settle for less than what you really want as any time you do, you send a very disempowering message to your subconscious mind that you do not deserve to have what you really want.

Imagine the fulfilment of letting go of any fears around being alone, making a commitment to yourself and taking action to have the relationship you truly want.
