Atelier Hutch talks coveted iPhone case worth $8,888

AtelierHutch01

If you agree that diamonds are a girl's bestfriend, than you'll be thrilled to know we've discovered a lust worthy keeper! If you're anything like us, your phone is your life which means that it's basically an accessory in itself. Thanks to ATELIER HUTCH's founders, Sarah Gladstone, Sarah Husbands and Carene Carroll, these three Brisbane women have created a mobile phone case that is everything!

Made of real Ostrich leather and decorated with 2.5 carat diamonds this is basically the most coveted accessory of the season. Yes, it comes with a hefty price tag of $8,888 but it's seriously worth every bit.

If you're still in shock, and need a little convincing, we've sat down with the Atelier Hutch ladies to discuss if we should justify this iPhone-case splurge over a Chanel handbag.

Where and how did your fashion journey begin as a team?

AH: We’ve been friends for over 25 years and have always shared a love of beautifully designed pieces and quality fabrics. We were coincidently on a plane back from Sydney on business together and talking about how limited the options were for technology accessories as we looked down shamefully at our phone covers. From there on, we set out to create something that would fit in with the stylish, contemporary women of today.

Describe the style of your brand in 3 words?

AH: Strong, luxurious and unique.

Why the phone case industry? Why not jewellery or shoes?

AH: Technology is such a core part of our everyday lives, and there was a huge opportunity to bring something to the table that was high-end and worthy of the successful, fashionably-fierce women of today.

ATELIER HUTCH brings luxury handcrafted fashion pieces to a market that has previously been driven by mass production and poor quality. Our pieces are an opportunity for women to have their phone as a true fashion accessory and show it off just like a new pair of earrings or shoes!

What was the inspiration behind the ostrich leather and diamond phone case?

AH: We wanted to create a limited edition, pinnacle piece that gave our customers the opportunity to own something truly special and unique. The response has been overwhelming to the point of having to create a waitlist. This diamond and ostrich leather case will however be a limited edition version to ensure we keep it ‘exclusive’ for our existing customers.

Is this the 'it' accessory of the season?

AH: The last couple of seasons have seen an influx of marble and monograms, so we’re excited to see a strong interest in ATELIER HUTCH from the leading fashionistas. The beauty with the collection is it’s not about one specific piece but a collection that allows you to accessorise to suit the occasion - from business meetings to Saturday night cocktails.

Do you think it is an investment piece?

AH: We see ATELIER HUTCH pieces as not only fashion investments but collectable items. Why restrict ourselves to one generic cover? We have dresses, jackets, handbags and jewellery for different occasions, so why not [have options] of our most used item – our phone?

How can our readers justify this splurge over a Chanel Bag?

AH: Now that is a very challenging question! Can we not have both?

How and what inspired the coveted packaging?

AH: We wanted to create packaging that was in line with the overall product quality and style, and added to the overall brand experience. The packaging is a keepsake and was created to sit alongside those beautiful Chanel, Hermes, and Louis Vuitton boxes in our closest.

Bloggers seem to be raving about the cases, what does this positive response mean for you?

AH: It definitely gives us confidence that we were not alone in our search for a high quality, fashion-led iPhone covers. For bloggers, your phone is always on display, whether it be in the latest holiday snap or at the latest fashion event. But let’s be honest, isn’t that the same for all of us?

From ostrich leather and diamonds, what could possibly be next for your brand?

AH: We’ll continue to push the boundaries of luxuriousness and craftsmanship in technology accessories but we’re also looking forward to connecting the ATELIER HUTCH brand further into the lives of the stylish and confident women of today.
