A guide to the Channel 7 Brisbane Racing Carnival

It's that time of year again. The annual Channel Seven Brisbane Racing Carnival will be commencing at Doomben and Eagle Farm racecourses from the 14th of May until the 11th of June. And this year there are seven exhilarating group one races, as well as countless opportunities for carnival goers to dress to impress.

Women at races with headwear

This year's ambassador of the Channel Seven Brisbane Racing Carnival is former competitive surfer and television personality, Liz Cantor, who, for the first time in history, is being joined by two fashion ambassadors, Damien Anthony Rossi and Sammie O'Brien.

For the third year in a row, Indooroopilly Shopping Centre is the official fashion partner of the Channel Seven Brisbane Racing Carnival, and will be giving race-goers the opportunity to win over $20,000 in prizes at the Indooroopilly Shopping Centre Fashions on the Field events, hosted every weekend of the Carnival.

UBET BTC Cup Day

The Channel Seven Brisbane Racing Carnival will kick off with the UBET BTC Cup Day, hosted on the 14th of May. This first day will see the Carnival's biggest race, the Group 1 $500,000 UBET BTC Cup, featuring the likes of Black Caviar and Apache Cat. Entertainment includes Daryl Braithwaite and the Carnival Social package, hosted by Future Racing Network.

The dress code for this day is Bold Colour, with the flower preference being salmon rose. This is the first day of Indooroopilly Shopping Centre's Fashions on the Field, so to ensure you have a chance to win, wear rich winter tones of mustards and burgundy, or bright, bold colours of vibrant blues and magenta. Men's attire must incorporate the winter racing dress standards of a suit or trousers and jacket, collared shirt, tie and dress shoes. For this day, men can incorporate a pop of colour into their attire, through a colourful tie or pocket square, to ensure their outfit is taken into account for $2,000 worth in prizes for the Fashions on the Field.

Gates open for members at 9.30 am, and for the public, 10 am.

Hardy Brothers Doomben Cup Day

Hosted at the Doomben Racecourse on the 21st of May, the Hardy Brothers Doomben Cup Day will be a star studded event featuring four Group races and entertainment by DJ duo Mashd n Kutcher. Race-goers will also have the opportunity to rub shoulders with their favourite celebrities, including Anna Heinrich and Tim Robards, at the Seven Sins Star Party.

The dress code of the day is Fashion Forward, with the flower being Scottish thistle. This is a day to truly push the fashion boundaries of traditional racewear, through incorporating this season's hottest trends, including bold, graphic prints and eastern influences. For men, adding clever accessories, seasonal mismatched prints and coordinating suit separates will help to push the style boundaries.

James Boag's Premium Doomben 10,000 Day

Commencing on the 28th of May at Doomben Racecourse; the James Boag's Premium Doomben 10,000 Day will feature an unmissable $750,000 Group 1 race. On this day, the Punter's Den package will provide race-goers with the ultimate experience, as well as Dragon performing after the last race.

Race-goers are given the opportunity to win over $3, 000 worth in Fashion on the Field prizes if they adhere to the day's dress code of A Touch of Metallic, with the flower being yellow rose. Combine structured pieces with hints of gold, silver, bronze and rose gold into your race day outfit for an on trend look. Incorporate metal-toned accessories within your outfit, or an elaborate metallic headpiece or crown to complete your look. For men, wearing a steel blue or grey suit with a standout tiepin or cufflinks will add a touch of metallic to their aesthetic.

Treasury Casino & Hotel Ladies' Oak Day

On the 4th of June, the Treasury Casino & Hotel Ladies' Oaks Day will take place at Eagle Farm Racecourse. This will be the first race day after the Heritage listed racecourse's 1.2 billion restoration. The day will celebrate fierce femininity, as well as Australia and New Zealand's best fillies competing in the $500,000 Treasury Casino & Hotel Queensland Oaks.

More than $5,000 worth in prizes will be available with the Indooroopilly Shopping Centre Fashions on the Field, with the flower of the day being white rose, whilst the dress code is Ladylike Glamour for women and a Touch of Pastel or Floral for men. This season's fashion trend of Victorian-inspired garments will work perfectly for this race day, with lace, florals, feathers and a soft colour palette complimenting this look. For men, incorporate soft pastel tones, florals or a checked shirt with pale chinos and a contrasting sports jacket will create an appropriate aesthetic for the race day.
