Anise Wine Room: Brisbane's only dedicated wine bar

European-style wine bar and restaurant, Anise, has changed its direction, focussing and reinventing themselves as Brisbane's only dedicated wine bar.

 Anise resturant

Based in the trendy pocket of New Farm, Anise offers a carefully selected wine line and thoughtfully considered menu of food boards to match the French inspired flavours and techniques.

Previously, Anise provided customers with a much loved al a carte and six course degustation experience, but are going back to their grass roots with a much stronger wine focus and less emphasis on the formal dining.

The intimate restaurant's reinvention will see Anise offer up a smaller, wine-friendly food menu, consisting of mainly antipasto food boards intended to be perfectly matched with the broad selection of wines.

Guests can also expect a minor fitout update, with the installation of a new high bench overlooking bustling Brunswick Street as well as the introduction of a boutique cocktail menu which is currently in development.

Anise owner Thames Delaforce says that despite the menu overhaul, their focus on impeccable service won't change.

“We're evolving Anise and following the market with a more casual, cool space to enjoy wine and smaller fine foods. Our focus on service and good experience won't change. There will be some minor cosmetic changes to the venue with the furniture but the tunes will still be played on vinyl,” says Delaforce.

Their obvious commitment to flavour, variety, quality and guest experience in both wine and food will remain high. The intimate bar setting packed with character and ambiance makes it the perfect place for both a first date and a catch up with old friends.

Anise will trade Wednesday to Sunday with a no bookings policy.
