Fashion Aid Le Circue Nocturne is a fashion event with a difference. It is where fashion, music, food and sophisticated diversion collide to create an entertaining, theatrical runway featuring some of Australia’s most talented designers and performers; all whilst raising funds for charities. We spoke to Fashion Aid's Director, Emma Rombotis about this exciting, upcoming event.

Fashion Aid has grown enormously and has now become one of Melbourne’s night-of-nights on the event calendar. What inspired you to create an evening that brings together so many of fashions movers and shakers for one night of fun for a great cause?

ER: I was watching Victoria's Secret show on TV one night with my husband, Johnny, and I was thinking “Why don’t we have an event like this in Australia?” That’s how it all came about. I wanted to create something that bought together fashion, entertainment and music and had a charity behind it all to benefit from the evening.

Your first show started from humble beginnings and 600 people attended at Crown’s Palladium in Melbourne! Fast forward eight years, how has the event evolved since?

ER: We are proud that each year, Fashion Aid has grown bigger and better. Every year we have a sell-out event and that is partly [because of all[ our wonderful sponsors, along with the amazing designers, performers and everyone else who is apart of our Fashion Aid family.

Fashion Aid has helped raise vital funds for charities such as The Lighthouse Foundation, Heart Kids Australia, Mission Australia and the Make A Wish Foundation. Can you reveal how much you hope to raise at this year's Fashion Aid?

ER: Well, this year we are hoping to raise $100,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation and their Building of Hope.

Can you give us an insight into which labels and designers you are excited to see down the runway?

ER: Absolutely, we have some phenomenal designers this year including Ted Baker, Calibre, Aron Katona, Anie Z Couture, S.Wallis, timepieces by Watch Central, Sheep Shearer, Stretching It Out activewear, Matcho Suba as well as a styling company Styliér. (Also) the latest from local boutique Via Monte Napoleone Emporium which houses international labels including Versace Collection and Roberto Cavalli.

Each year Fashion Aid sells out! That's amazing. What do you think is the secret to success?

ER: There is no secret, it just takes a lot of hard work!

Where do you see Fashion Aid heading in the next few years?

ER: I quite like where Fashion Aid is now. The only thing I would love to do is to see it continue to surprise and wow our wonderful guests.

Leading a busy life and as an entrepreneur and budding philanthropist, together with your husband you have three businesses and a family. What advice would you give others wanting to get their start in the industry?

ER: I’m one of those peoples that just gives it a go, so my advice would be don’t think too much, just have it a shot and give it a go!

The theme for this year’s Fashion Aid is ‘black masquerade’, and will commence on Saturday the 12th of September at the Crown Palladium, Melbourne, from 6.30pm. Tickets start from $295, and are set to sell out fast for this charming and stylish night out.
