We all know that the dominant Australian Spring/Summer fashion trends for 2015/16 is all about 70s glam, with the trend featuring on numerous runways across the globe. Key silhouettes for the season includes the flared trouser and midi skirt, whilst popular textiles this season are romantic white lace and graphics.

Last year's popular culotte pant has been re-worked this season; resulting in the currently trending maxi-length, wide leg trouser. Trend-setter and socialite, Olivia Palermo, has dubbed the wide leg trouser a sophisticated yet on-trend staple this season. The wide leg trouser comes in a range of fabrics from silk and rayon to casual denim styles, making it a super versatile wardrobe addition. Stiff, structured wide leg trousers are tailored through the waist and thigh, flaring out from the knee, making the style perfect for the office, whilst relaxed styles featuring flowing fabrics and a streamlined shape are perfect for a night out on the town. The wide leg style is flattering for all body shapes as the cinched waist and wide legs of these trousers will flatter most body shapes.

For Australian Spring 2015/16, midi skirts in billowing fabrics and light colours are set to be popular. The most flattering shapes cinches in at the waist and ends right below the knee. The high waist allows the skirt to be paired with a cropped top while still looking classy. If showing skin is not your thing, channel a Parisian-chic style by wearing the midi skirt with a soft, button down blouse. For a casual look, Olivia Palermo has been spotted styling the midi skirt with a button down chambray blouse and heeled sandals. Like the wide length pant, the midi skirt can be worn in a variety of ways to suit each body shape, making it the perfect wardrobe essential this Summer.

Romantic, white lace will be a major textile this season, with woven, crochet lace being used to create 1970s inspired looks. Lace will feature everywhere, from long, calf length skirts, dresses and even as contrasting pockets on denim garments. Ultra-sheer, ethereal lace will also be a prominent aesthetic this season, as seen on the Valentino and Louis Vuitton runways. The tantalizing lace creates delicate, desirable looks through the peep of skin under the sheer lace, which is perfect for the Australian Spring Summer season.

Graphic, mixed prints will be another dominate trend this Spring/Summer with contrasting patterns being paired and stitched together to create eye-catching, bohemian looks. Bright florals and paisley will feature heavily, being paired with contrasting patterns, like monochromatic stripes and patterns, as featured in Dior’s Resort ‘15 wear. The exotic combination of vintage fabrics, patterns and textures will aid in creating a 1970s ambiance this season.
