It was once said that retail therapy soothes the soul, and we all know that we never need an excuse to shop. With the Black Friday and Cyber Monday mega sales taking place from Friday November 27 until the Monday November 30, we can guarantee that we will be maxing out our credit cards this weekend.

Conventionally an American tradition taking place around Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are the US answer to Australia’s crazy Boxing Day sales. However, Cashrewards has predicted that this year more Aussies than ever will be taking part in the sales (and avoiding the cues and chaos) all in the comfort of their own home. This is due to an increase of American retailers, such as Bloomingdale’s, ASOS and Macy’s, all providing incredible online sales for their Australian consumers.

The Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales have also been adopted by Australian brands, such as Metalicus and UGG Australia, offering their very own Black Friday sales. Whilst the sales can be a chance for you to finally get your hands on those gorgeous Valentino heels at a discounted price, we have put together our top tips to getting the absolute best out of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales for our readers.

1. Educate yourself on the time difference between Australia and America.

As the majority of sales will drop on Friday, sometime even Thursday, in America, in Australia that will be Saturday morning in Australia. Check the sales on Friday and Saturday morning just in-case of a surprise flash sale.

2. Know your US size.

There’s nothing worse than finding the perfect Alexander Wang dress for you're Christmas celebrations and then realising you don’t know your dress size in US measurements. By knowing your size you’ll reduce your stress, and you’ll score the dress before it sells out.

3. Steer clear of electronics.

Whilst the savings on that GHD hair straightener is incredible, if you're purchasing from a US site there is a high chance that you will need a plug adapter to use it here in Australia.

4. ‘Tis the season of giving

With Christmas and the New Year just around the corner, Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales are the perfect time to start buying your loved ones Christmas and birthday gifts at an amazing discount!

5. Do your research

A few days prior to the sales have a look at your favourite online stores to see whether they are taking part in the sales, and pick a few of your favourite pieces that you will purchase if they do. This will save you time and also ensure that you’re not living off two minute noodles for the next few weeks.
